Shirley Ryland graduated in 1980 from Louisiana College with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1982 with a master’s degree in Social Work. Shirley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (La#1995) since 1984 working with substance abuse and psychiatric patients from adolescence to geriatric.
She has been in fulltime private practice since 1990. She has specialized in adolescents and adults with a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma and substance abuse. She uses a cognitive behavioral approach to address underlying belief systems that facilitate both mood/decisions and behavior. She teaches anxiety reduction skills incorporating a wide array of relaxation strategies. She has worked with chemical dependency since 1990.
